Surprisingly, my IT support company seem unsure at the moment as to whether this feature is available in my software and are investigating - I'd hoped to find a quick answer here.

I'm still hoping that someone here will be familiar with 11d SBS and be able to clarify that I can backup individual mailboxes as I used to do and show me how to activate the feature.

I've never seen Exmerge so I looked up an article and there's no way I'd be able to use it - I'd have to pay my IT company to set it up - which puts mailbox recovery beyond my reach financially. I used to be able to recover an individual mailbox / folder quickly and easily - the idea of having to recover the whole Information Store from tape just to retrieve someone's Inbox or Sent Items sounds like it would take a very long time as it has surely to retrieve say 20GB of mailboxes from tape instead of just 0.5GB (for most users). However, when I originally posted I was really just hoping that someone could let me know if my software CAN backup individual mailboxes (as I used to before, albeit with my older version of BE). Julia RE: Backing up individual mailboxes Zelandakh (MIS) 6 Feb 09 08:56 If not, I need to alert my manager to the fact that restoring lost mail is a chargeable and time consuming process that needs to be authorised first (as opposed to something I can just do for my users). If so, I just need to wait for my IT Support Company to find out why backup setup doesn't show the individual mailboxes in the list of backup selections. I really want to go back to the old way I've used of being able to restore the individual mailbox/folders inside from the backup (despite the extra space needed).Ĭan you confirm that Backup Exec 11d Small Business Edition IS capable of backing up individual mailboxes ? I looked at the Quest software - it looks like a big program and there's no guide prices so it must be expensive as I have to wait for a quote! Also it sounds like it would take a very long time. Whilst I have an IT support company, they would charge for the engineer time this would take. This sounds like a process which is too complicated for me. I suspected it was restoring the Information Store in order to get to the mailbox, but I had no idea it was actually restoring the store and that I then had to use another program to run to restore the mailbox I needed. Thank you very much for explaining it so clearly.
